Frequently Asked Questions
Let me elaborate for ya...
Tooth Gems can last between 2 months and up to 2 years. Retention will depend on the client’s lifestyle and condition of their teeth. Do you brush your teeth 2xs a day? Are you an aggressive eater? Do you quench your thirst with acidic beverages on a daily? It just all depends.
Tooth gems are generally safe, however, it goes both ways. As an artist, I make sure my station is sanitized so that I do not cross-contaminate and prevent the spread of any diseases or viruses. My job is to keep my design precise and clean to avoid damages done to the teeth and gums when applying any chemical agents used to apply tooth gems. Your job is to have good hygeine. That means brushing your teeth 2xs daily and floss to avoid plaque or build up around the gems.
Anyone with inflamed gums or plaque surrounding their tooth are not suitable for tooth gems. This indicates poor hygeiene which can cause the gems to erode the tooth enamel or build plaque surrounding it.

It is important to acknowledge that you must see a professional Dental Hygeniest to remove any gem or buff out any leftover adhesive on the tooth. This is a simple process and can be done in seconds. This is not damaging. It’s just like removing braces :) Generally, you are to see the dentist every 6 months for maintenance cleaning.
You will need to avoid brushing directly on the gems for 48 hours. I suggest waiting up to 7 days to use an electronic tooth brush, otherwise, you can brush around the gems. No mouthwash for up to 48 hours. 2 days will allow the gems to fully cure and lock in place. Theyre essentially like braces. You will be able to go back to your normal regimen after 7 days.
I highly suggest having your teeth whitened before getting tooth gems so that the whole surface of the teeth can lift more evenly. It can be done in the same session depending on the products being used. Our teeth whitening gel contains hydrogen peroxide and is is safe for my clients to have both services done in one session =) If you already have tooth gems, it will solely depend on the design you have. I would generally allow my clients to do one session, but they will need to return for a second session after all gems are removed so that I can even out the level of whiteness on each tooth.
If you swallow the gem, it will simply pass through the body. It can be a cause of concern if there’s a large amount, but in small quantities, it won’t do any harm. If the backing is attached, see your local dentist to have them buff out the tooth.
Retainers are okay as long as the gems are placed around the wires. Invisalign is molded into the shape of your teeth, not allowing any space for the gems to sit.
No, unless you have them adhered from the dentist. The dentist has the tools necessary to keep your veneers in perfect condition. As your artist, I will not hold myself liable to cause any possible damages to your veneers.
